The cultures of the West Irian / Irian Jaya tribes are fascinating. The island's terrain is rough, mountainous, and covered by rain forest. Communications between villages are by narrow foot paths. Jayapura, the capital of this province, is  five hours by plane from Bali. Daily flights connect these two cities via Ujungpandang or Biak.
From Jayapura, a tour to the hinterland is possible. A police permit is required in order to visit Irian Jaya. We can arrange this for you in Jayapura.
 

5 Days Irian - The Baliem Valley Adventure, Iri-PT/01

DAY 01 : JAYAPURA
Upon arrival at Sentani Airport (Jayapura), transfer to Jayapura-the Capital city of Irian Jaya province with direct check-in to HOTEL MATOA or similar. (L,D)

DAY 02 : JAYAPURA - WAMENA
Breakfast at hotel. Transfer to the Airport to depart for Wamena, located in the Baliem valley. Upon arrival walk to HOTEL BALIEM PALACE or similar for accommodation and meals. After lunch, you visit the local market to see the Dani people selling and buying their daily needs, then walk across a picturesque  hanging bridge to Wesaput, a traditional village. Return to hotel. DAY 03 : WAMENA
Breakfast at hotel. Explore Dani villages, including Ayekama village to see the smoked mummy of the chief  strongly believed to offer protection for the people.  Then on to other surrounding villages to see traditional huts and to learn  about Dani culture and beliefs. Return to Hotel. (B,L,D)

DAY 04 : WAMENA - JAYAPURA
Breakfast at hotel. Walk to the Airport for your departure to Jayapura. Upon arrival, transfer to HOTEL MATOA  or similar for accommodations and meals. After lunch, drive to scenic Lake Sentani to enjoy the panorama, before proceeding to a local market. (B,L,D)

DAY 05 : JAYAPURA - OUT
Breakfast at hotel. Transfer to the airport to depart for your next destination.(B)

DAY 01 : JAYAPURA

8 Days Irian - The Baliem Valley & Asmat Adventure,

Iri-PT/03

DAY 01 : JAYAPURA
Upon arrival at Sentani Airport (Jayapura), transfer to Jayapura-the Capital city of Irian Jaya province with direct check-in to HOTEL MATOA or similar. (D)

DAY 02 : JAYAPURA - WAMENA
Breakfast at hotel. Transfer to the Airport to depart for Wamena, located in the Baliem valley. Upon arrival walk to the local market where Dani people selling and buying their daily needs, then walk across a picturesque  hanging bridge to Wesaput, a traditional village. DAY 03 : WAMENA - AGATS - WARSE
Breakfast at hotel. Transfer to the airport to depart by flight to Ewer, canoeing to Agats and having lunch. After lunch, canoeing to Warse village to explore the community life of Asmat people. Overnight in local guest house. (B,L,D)

DAY 04 : WARSE - AGATS - ATSY
After having brekfast canoeing to Amborep and Amanamkai to see the community of the Asmat. Proceed to Atsy for accommodation at local guest house. (B,L,D)

DAY 05 : ATSY - AGATS
After breakfast canoeing back to Agats. Then visit Asmat museum and Syuru village. Back to homestay for accommodation and dinner. (B,L,D)

DAY 06 : AGATS - WAMENA
Breakfat at hotel. Canoeing back to Ewer for flying back to Wamena. On arrival in Wamena, transfer to hotel Baliem Palace for accmmodation. Then drive to Jiwika to see the 250-years old mummy at Sopahima. Return to hotel with stop at Kontitola stone cave. Dinner at hotel. (B,L,D)

DAY 07 : WAMENA - JAYAPURA
Breakfast at hotel. Walk to the Airport for your departure to Jayapura. Upon arrival, transfer to HOTEL MATOA  or similar for accommodations and meals. After lunch, drive to scenic Lake Sentani to enjoy the panorama, before proceeding to a local market. (B,L,D)

DAY 08 : JAYAPURA - OUT
Breakfast at hotel. Transfer to the airport to depart for your next destination.(B)
